Recommended Pickup Types
Most options are available for all Rees guitars.

Humbuckers
Can be bare black, or have nickel covers which protect the pickup windings from damage by clumsy picking. Traditional nickel covers get scratched and dull with age. Many guitarists like this aging. The nickel above the pole pieces has an extremely small effect of dulling the highest-end of the tone. Many people can not hear the difference.(Brass covers would alter tone and are not recommended). I can also offer new toaster covers that are nickel, but plated with chrome to be more hard-wearing. Since they have slots above both sets of pole pieces, they do not alter the tone of the pickup at all.

For traditional to modern blues / rock /jazz:
Bridge: SD JB
Neck: SD Jazz

For modern blues / rock / heavy rock / funk / prog / metal
Bridge: SD Pegasus
Neck: SD Sentient
These exciting new pickups are not louder! They are clearer with better string separation, particularly when using higher gain rigs.

For great P90 tones as well as great humbucker tones:
Bridge: SD P-Rails (the single coil really is just like a vintage P90, in contrast to many alternatives in H format that disappoint)
Neck: SD Jazz

P90s
The SD Vintage P90s are the best. They are available with either black or cream plastic covers.

Strat Single-coils
Neck and/or Mid: SD vintage flat - for those iconic best stratty tones, and best compatibility with modern string sets
Bridge: SD Custom - fattens the tone without loss of top end harmonics (which many alternative "hot" or "overwound" pickups suffer from)
They are available with either black or cream plastic covers, which are with or without the Seymour Duncan logo.
Other cover colours can sometimes be found. They need to be American size, and not Asian metric sizes.

Pickup Sets - with recommended best controls
These illustrations show the Custom Shop 2015 guitar body, but any Rees body shape is possible. Any bridge can be chosen.
Default Seymour Duncan pickup types are specified.
Alternative Seymour Duncan pickup types can be supplied.
Customer supplied pickups from other manufacturers are welcome.
Some other Rees guitars might want different controls.

Many of the pickup selections below have sound recordings by Ben Smith. Click on the green, blue, or red buttons to hear them:
